A virtual guided tour followed by live Q&A with Şerif Yenen, prominent Turkish travel specialist, writer, tourist guide, and travel filmmaker.
Small hidden gem, it is a must if you love art and history! The Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora (Kariye) is one of the most exquisite structures reflecting the East Roman (Byzantine) art with the architecture, frescoes and mosaics. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful surviving examples of a Byzantine church. Considered as a masterpiece even in its own time, the decorative program of the Chora is a pivotal monument of the ‘proto-Renaissance’, comparable to the early 14th-century fresco program of Giotto at the Arena Chapel in Padua.
