Cennetin Dususu | The Fall of Heaven

Synopsis

The fifteen-day long protest in Istanbul, in June 2013, broke out initially against the urban development plan of Gezi Park, a public park of 616 trees in the heart of Taksim Square, in Istanbul. The peaceful protest, followed by the occupation of thousands of people in Gezi park, resulted in violent clashes with the police in the next few weeks. The protests quickly propagated in all the squares of Turkish major urban centres. The documentary begins with the sentence: "Let justice arrive falling from the heaven" and depicts the protest since its beginning.
