
Amina is a 29-year-old Senegalese woman who works as a dress model in a textile company in Istanbul. Leaving her daughter behind, she immigrated to Turkey seven years ago to earn money and to take care of her daughter’s needs. Amina faces many challenges each day as an African woman living in Turkey. She fights these difficulties keeping alive her hopes of going back to her daughter and her country, she also dreams of being a real model one day. As an immigrant, Amina is in two minds-between her realities and her dreams.

Kıvılcım Akay graduated from Akdeniz University Fine Arts Faculty in 2008. She worked in advertising sector and worked with many national and international brands as agent coordinator and copywriter. In 2011, she started her own advertising and production company called “Akay Film”. She is the producer and director of the first fashion documentary film in Turkey “100 Years of Fashion”. In 2013, the documentary aired in TRT Documentary channel as 4 episodes and is still being used by fashion academies as a teaching material. In 2014, she completed another documentary called “My Wish Is Peace” as director and producer. The documentary that called for peace to the world from children’s view, had its world premiere in Istanbul International Film Festival and later was selected for many national and international festivals. “Amina” is Akay's first feature documentary. |
