Director Yüksel AKSU
Yüksel Aksu (1966, Ula, Muğla) is a director, screenwriter and actor. He graduated from the Cinema and Television Department of the Fine Arts Faculty at Dokuz Eylül University in 1993 with bachelor’s and master’s degrees. As a director, he has produced short films, documentaries, television series and feature films.
In 2006, he wrote, directed, and produced 'Dondurmam Gaymak,' a very low-budget film. This film was Türkiye’s Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film.
He currently teaches screenwriting at the Radio, Television, and Cinema Department of Istanbul University.
His selected filmography includes feature films Tears of Cem Karaca/Cem Karaca’nın Gözyaşları (2024), 61 Days/İftarlık Gazoz (2016), Entelköy Efeköy’e Karşı (2011), Ice Cream I Scream / Dondurmam Gaymak (2005); documentary Last Nomads in Anatolia: Sarıkeçililer/Anadolu’nun Son Göçerleri: Sarıkeçililer (2010); and acclaimed TV series Avlu (2018), Sevdaluk (2013), Leyla ile Mecnun (2011)
Aksu’s feature films “61 Days” and “Ice Cream I Scream” were screened at the Boston Turkish Film Festival, and his documentary “Last Nomads in Anatolia: Sarıkeçililer” was screened at BTF’s Documentary and Short Film Competition in previous years. |
