Ömer Ferhat ÖZMEN
Ömer Ferhat Özmen (Bitlis,1993) graduated from the Film Design Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Marmara University. His first short film, 'Beyoğlu Sineması' (Beyoğlu Cinema), screened at more than 50 national and international film festivals and won 15 awards. The film's success led to it being shown at 45 universities across Turkey and made it the most awarded short film in the country in 2016-17. His second short film, 'Karganın Aşınan Gagası' (The Crow's Worn Beak), received support from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and was screened at many festivals. Özmen's latest project, 'Eksi Bir' (Minus One), received funding from the EU Civil Thought Fund and was honored with the 'Best Short Film Script' award at the Luma Film Festival Pitching Forum. He is currently in the development stage of his first feature film, 'Mekke Oteli' (Mecca Hotel). In his films, Özmen tackles social and political themes while also incorporating a sense of humor.
