Starting their life of love and struggle in Thessaloniki, Sabiha and Zekeriya Sertel were two journalists who fought for freedom during Türkiye’s turbulent times. After Sabiha’s death, her family kept her existence a secret. Her niece, Nur Deriş, discovers Sabiha’s story through the book Like a Novel. Like a Novel is a poignant journey tracing a silenced generation and a denied era.

Tayfun BELET
Tayfun Belet was born in İzmir. He completed his high school education at Fatma Saygın Anatolian High School and received his undergraduate degree from Yaşar University's Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. He later earned a master's degree in Art and Design from the same university. He began his directing career in 2006. Belet directed films such as The Apprentice, Peace and Quiet in the Aquarium, The Core and the Reel, and Unkapanı: The Endless Tale. With these films, he reached audiences in more than 40 countries and received over 200 awards at international film festivals, including the Krakow Dragon Award, TRT Documentary Award, and UNESCO Achievement Award. He has lectured on cinema, screenwriting, and documentary filmmaking at institutions such as Yaşar University, İzmir University of Economics, Istanbul Kültür University, and Medipol University. Belet’s documentary, “Unkapanı: The Endless Tale” was finalist at BTF’s Documentary & Short Film Competition in 2022.
