Hyun Sook Tekin's exceptional pianism and unwavering dedication to music have garnered widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Her former piano teacher Prof. Klaus Schilde has said "She is always seeking to penetrate into the entity and essence of the works…I am sure that this will remain one of Ms. Tekin’s defining characteristics."

Born in Daegu, South Korea, Hyun Sook Tekin began her musical journey at the age of six. She quickly demonstrated exceptional talent, winning numerous first prizes in the Young Pianist Competition in Daegu between 1989 and 1994. In 1996, she secured a Special Scholarship from the Rector of Kyung Pook National University after achieving the highest score in the entrance examinations for their College of Fine Art and Music.

Under the guidance of Professor Jung, Tekin completed her undergraduate studies at Kyung Pook National University, earning Bachelor's degrees in both Piano Performance and Music Pedagogy in 2000. During her time at the university, she actively participated in various chamber ensembles and accompanied professional opera societies.

Hyun Sook TekinIn 2000, Tekin relocated to Germany to pursue further studies under the tutelage of Professor Erber in Berlin. Subsequently, she studied with renowned pianist Professor Klaus Schilde at the Hochschule für Musik-Franz Liszt in Weimar, earning a Master's degree in 2004. During this period, she also honed her chamber music skills under the guidance of Professor Beetz and participated in masterclasses with esteemed pianists such as Professor Karajewa, Professor Schirmer, Professor Kehrer, and Professor Mia Paul.

From 2004 to 2010, Tekin continued her musical education as a doctoral student at MIAM, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), under the mentorship of State Artist Ayşegül Sarıca. Throughout her career, Tekin has been a frequent guest performer at the Afyon Music Festival, where she has given numerous recitals. Notable performances include Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 with the Prague Modern Ensemble in 2012 and U. C. Erkin's concerto with the Istanbul State Orchestra in 2013.

Dr. Tekin has been invited to perform at numerous prestigious international music festivals, including the Afyon Music Festival, Bodrum Music Festival, Verona Piano Festival, S. Giacomo Festival, Contemporary Music Festival (ITU), St. John Classical Music Festival, Piano Summer Ohrid, Piano Summer Vranje, Salento Festival, Bilkent Piano Festival, Istanbul Piano Festival, and Pharos Music Foundation. She has also participated in international music symposia and is currently engaged in research on musical symbolism.

Dr. Tekin has released four acclaimed CD albums: "Triole" (2010), "Romance" (2016), "Winter Sonata" (2019), and "Piano Duo-Hungarian Dances of Brahms" (2021).

She served as Head of the Music Department at Marmara State University from 2008 to 2021 and is currently Head of the Music Department at Bahçeşehir University. Since 2019, she has also held the position of Artistic Director of the International Istanbul Piano Festival.

In addition to her solo recitals and chamber music performances, Tekin has also been active as a teacher and mentor. She has regularly conducted masterclasses and seminars at conservatories in Italy, including Bologna, Salerno, and Lecce.

Hyun Sook Tekin's impressive career has spanned continents, with performances in Korea, Japan, Germany, Austria, Italy, England, the USA, Greece, Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Serbia, and Türkiye. Her exceptional talent, dedication, and versatility have solidified her reputation as a leading figure in the world of classical music.
